Children's Privacy

Effective July 5, 2026 Last updated July 27, 2026

Next Mile Recruiting helps high-school cross-country and track athletes, their families, and coaches navigate the college athletic recruiting process. Our services are intended for a general audience, primarily high-school athletes, parents and guardians, and coaches.

Federal Rule For Children Under 13

We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under the age of 13. The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) applies to children under 13. Before showing an athlete our direct email-signup fields, we ask for birth month and birth year. If a visitor indicates they are under 13, we do not show or submit the athlete contact fields. Instead, we ask them to have a parent or guardian contact us.

Direct Athlete Signup Starts At 14

Next Mile Recruiting uses a stricter direct-signup rule than the federal COPPA age threshold. An athlete must be at least 14 to submit their own name and email address through our site. If an athlete indicates they are 13 or younger, the contact fields remain hidden and no athlete signup is submitted. We direct them to a parent or guardian instead.

Information We Collect From Athletes 14 And Older

When an athlete indicates they are 14 or older and chooses to sign up, we may collect:

  • First name
  • Email address
  • Expected graduation year
  • The page they signed up from
  • Birth month and birth year, used to verify age eligibility and not forwarded to our email provider
  • Confirmation that the athlete passed the age requirement

We use this information to send recruiting-related communications and to operate and improve our services.

Third-Party Services

We use a third-party email provider to deliver email. We may also use optional analytics and advertising tools such as Google Analytics and Meta only after a visitor permits that optional tracking. If the athlete age gate indicates the visitor is 13 or younger, our site disables optional tracking and keeps it disabled on later visits from that browser.

Parents' And Guardians' Rights

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 may have provided us personal information, or you want to review or delete information associated with your child, please contact us at info@nextmilerecruiting.com. We will verify the request and delete the information from our records.

If We Learn We Have Collected A Child's Information

If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without appropriate consent, we will delete that information promptly.
