How Idaho State Track Qualification Works
Idaho has up to six classifications — 6A, 5A, 4A, 3A, 2A, 1A — governed by the Idaho High School Activities Association (IHSAA). Note: this is Idaho’s IHSAA, not Indiana’s IHSAA — two different orgs. The 6A classification was added in 2025; prior years used five classes (5A through 1A).
Idaho runs district → state qualifying. Each district holds a championship meet, with the top finishers advancing. Idaho’s state meet groups classes across two combined meets, with the exact pairings shifting year-to-year as classifications evolve. Below: every IHSAA state meet from 2022–2025, with the actual per-year structure preserved.
