How Minnesota State Track Qualification Works
Minnesota has three classes for state track — A (smallest schools), AA, and AAA (largest) — governed by the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL). The state meet rotates between St. Michael-Albertville High School and other host venues each June.
Athletes qualify for state through their section meet → state. Minnesota has 8 sections (1 through 8), each with both A and AA/AAA brackets; the top finishers from each section advance to state. The meet runs Friday through Saturday, with prelims one day and finals the next for sprints, hurdles, and relays.
MSHSL publishes a per-year results landing page on mshsl.org with separate prelims and finals PDFs for each class, boys and girls combined. Below: every state meet, 2022–2025.
