How New Mexico State Track Qualification Works
New Mexico has five classifications — 5A through 1A — governed by the New Mexico Activities Association (NMAA). Each classification holds its own state championship in early May, traditionally at the University of New Mexico’s Albuquerque campus.
New Mexico runs district → state qualifying. Each district holds a championship meet, with the top finishers in each event advancing. The geographic spread of New Mexico means district meets often pull from very wide footprints, particularly in the smaller classes.
NMAA delegates state meet results hosting to MileSplit New Mexico. Below: every NMAA state championship from 2022–2025 — five per-class meets per year, both genders covered at each meet.

NMAA hosts state meet results through MileSplit (canonical archive at milesplit.live). Five per-class meets per year, each covering both boys and girls.
