How Michigan State Track Qualification Works

Michigan splits its state championships across two peninsulas — Lower Peninsula (LP) with four divisions (D1, D2, D3, D4) and Upper Peninsula (UP) with three divisions (D1, D2, D3) — governed by the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA). LP and UP run separately, with LP Finals at East Kentwood (D1), Hamilton (D2), and other host venues; UP Finals are typically combined at a single Upper Peninsula venue (e.g., Kingsford’s Flivver Field).

Michigan runs regional → state qualifying. Each division has its own regional structure, with the top finishers advancing to its respective LP or UP Finals. Boys and girls compete on the same weekend; result format varies year-to-year — older archives publish per-gender PDFs/HTM/TXT files, while 2024 LP combines into ‘Individuals’ PDFs (boys + girls in one document), and 2025 delegates entirely to athletic.net (one meet covers both genders).

Full Meet Results

MHSAA hosts results across multiple archives. 2022 lives at my.mhsaa.com as plain-text files (one per division per gender); 2023 mixes per-gender PDFs (LP) with HTM files (UP); 2024 LP uses combined ‘Individuals’ PDFs while UP keeps per-gender PDFs; 2025 is hosted on athletic.net (one meet per LP division plus one combined UP meet).

What Next Mile Recruiting actually is

We’re not a recruiting service. We’re education for families.

We help parents understand how college recruiting actually works so they can make a great decision about where their athlete runs in college — and so the conversations they have with you are better informed.

If you’ve been coaching for years or decades, the recruiting landscape has changed dramatically since the House settlement. Roster caps, the transfer portal, scholarship structures — what worked five years ago doesn’t work the same way now. I’ve written a short email series just for high school coaches to get you caught up on what you need to know to help your athletes. Drop your email below.
