How Maine State Track Qualification Works
Maine has three classifications — Class A (largest), B, and C — governed by the Maine Principals’ Association (MPA). State championships are held in early June, with each class contested as a separate meet at venues across the state (Bath, Yarmouth, and Belfast have hosted in recent years).
Maine runs regional → state qualifying. Each class is divided into a Northern and Southern region, with the top finishers from each region advancing to state. Maine’s small school count means most athletes who reach state are well-known statewide before the championship weekend.
MPA delegates state meet results hosting to MileSplit Maine. Below: every MPA state meet from 2022–2025 — three per-class meets per year, both genders covered at each.
